When Should You Consider an Autism Evaluation?

Early identification is important, especially for kids under age 5. Potential signs of autism or another developmental difference include:

  • Delayed speech or limited vocabulary
  • Repetitive behaviors (e.g., lining up toys, repeating words/phrases, etc.)
  • Limited eye contact or difficulty engaging with others
  • Strong reliance on routines or becoming upset with small changes
  • Sensory sensitivities, such as being overwhelmed by sounds, textures, or lights

If you’re considering an autism evaluation in Plainfield, our team is here to support you. We offer virtual diagnostic testing so you can get answers sooner, and from the comfort of home.

We signed our son up for speach therapy we cancelled the last visit. But they still charged me and hounded me about a 45 dollar copay. This has been absolutely ridiculous. Staff was kind and respectful. But would not recommend

From the intake process to the evaluation for my son, this amazing team has exuded compassion and empathy from the start. My son who doesn’t not warm up to everyone, was immediately comfortable with them from the start. We are excited and encouraged to go on his speech therapy journey with them!

My 4 month old has been going to Alicia for over a month now and she has been amazing in her approach for physical therapy. He has some muscle tightness around the neck and requires some stretches to help relax. She does an amazing job in keeping him comfortable and calming him down if he ever gets fussy. You can tell she cares about her work and the children by the way she explains the treatment and how to further ensure that my child grows up healthy.

The staff at the front desk are also really awesome and welcoming. They always have a smile and really care about what they do. They are responsive and helpful in their guidance through scheduling, insurance claims and new patient setup.

I highly recommend the Westside in Plainfield North!

My son started going to Westside for physical therapy at 3 months old and has been working with Veronica for almost 2 months now. She does absolutely fantastic with him. She does a great job of explaining everything that she is doing and teaching me what I need to do at home. He has made so much progress since he started there, I can hardly believe it. I would definitely recommend Westside!

Miss Nicole was clearly very invested in our son’s outcome with Westside. She would check in before and after every session. She seemed sincerely sad to know we were leaving Westside and that personal bond was so appreciated by us. Our son uses what he taught her on a daily basis and refers to her in his new clinic often. We highly recommend Miss Nicole at Westside. The only issue we had was with billing. They would send Past Due notices when we would not have received initial notices prior. The billing was always behind where you would pay for some services for a particular month but that month would appear again for other services in different statements making it challenging to keep up with record keeping.

How does ABA therapy help improve behavior and communication skills?

ABA focuses on breaking skills into small, teachable steps and using positive reinforcement to help children learn effectively, which is an essential part of our ABA therapy in Plainfield North. Therapists model, prompt, and encourage the child to use words, gestures, signs, or alternative communication tools to express their needs. Over time, this brings positive changes into the child’s life, helping them build a meaningful life for themselves.

How do I know which therapy or combination of therapies my child needs?

To understand which therapy or combination of therapies will work best for your child’s needs, you need to connect with a team of pediatric experts. They will assess your child’s condition and offer a plan that best suits your child.
