Becky Lonkar
Rebecca Lonkar earned her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Governors State University in December 2013, after completing a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders (2012) and a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration (2010). During graduate school, she served as President of the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA). She has pursued extensive advanced training in pediatric feeding and swallowing, including the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding, Beckman Oral Motor, Pediatric Swallowing Studies (VFSS) and Disorders, Pediatric VitalStim®, kinesiology taping techniques for swallowing disorders, and specialized coursework in tethered oral tissues (TOTs) and infant craniosacral therapy.
Rebecca provides specialized feeding, swallowing, and oral motor therapy for children from birth through 18 years of age. As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and Orofacial Myologist, she partners closely with families to support safe, successful, and positive feeding experiences, with clinical expertise in breastfeeding and lactation support, bottle feeding difficulties, postnatal feeding support, medically complex feeding, picky and problem feeding, transition from enteral to oral feeding, oral motor impairments, craniofacial abnormalities, infant feeding disorders, and TOTs. In addition to direct care, she mentors professionals, develops educational opportunities within pediatric feeding and swallowing, and serves as a certified continuing education (CEU) provider, creating and teaching specialized feeding courses for therapists and other healthcare providers.
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family—she has been happily married for over 12 years and is a proud parent of two children. She’s also active in her community as a youth cheerleading coach and loves golfing and fishing with her family whenever she can.
